Compiling Suse 9.2 for Processor Arch.

Has anyone here recompiled the kernel for Suse 9.2 using their specifc cpu architecture? If so did you notice any substantial speed increases?

Are the default binaires for Suse compiled for i386,i586 or i686?

I believe they are i586. I've compiled to 2.6.9 for the P4/Celeron and it worked fine. Probably another month or so and I'll move to 2.6.10 but I didn't really see anything added that makes me want to move up.
