Chrome OS Java Plugins unsupported?

Regarding Chrome OS does anybody know why JAVA Plugins are unsupported according to my experience with the install process and the Chrome OS official support website? It is most curious that the JAVA JRE appears to be in the repository and can be installed but then does not appear in the available plugins for either the Chrome browser or Mozilla/Foxfire browser.

If you dig far enough you will find that JRE in the Chromium browser in Chrome OS by Google is unsupported at present.
