How can I change the opensuse login manager so that the user can select a picture, instead of typing a username and password? My daughter is too young to type username and password, but is very much interested in gcompriz.
You probably need a gdm theme that shows pictures. Take a look at gdm themes section at gnome-look.org for some themes. You may also need to run gdmsetup and enable the face browser option. KDM on openSUSE does this by default, so I am not sure why they did not configure GDM to do the same.
