can't get lilo to work with suse 10

Hi,

I just did a fresh install suse on my system. I've got two hard drives in my computer, the master is my windows and the slave drive to that is the one I installed suse on. During the setup I tried to change the options and use lilo as my bootloader instead of grub, well it got halfway through and said there was error in the bootloader installation, i hit retry 3 times to no avail and finally tried using the grub option instead..it worked right away. So I let it go assuming I would just change it in YAST once I got the system up. Well when I try it in YAST I receive the same error about an error in the bootloader installation. Any ideas?

Not trying to be snide, but why lilo? Grub handles dual booting very nicely, and I use it to dual boot between two physical drives, one pata and one sata. I used lilo for years until I finally let go and started using grub. Never looked back. My two cents...

i think i am starting to agree with you. lilo was just what i am used to. but i havent been able to get it to work in either ubuntu or suse. i think im giving up and just going to use grub since it seems to be so cooperative

Yeah, I went through the same thing, then I finally switched. Grub works great, and you don't need to run anything after changes to the config like you did with lilo.
