I have a problem which I cant resolve. I have made everything, I followed the instructions found on the web regarding the problem, but all I get is the following: bgorjup@riba:~> iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
Where did you get up to?
You got the drivers (which ones, where from?) and compiled them (any errors or warnings?) then loaded the drivers (how?) then configured your interface (how?) and attempted to connect to something (what? another computer? a router? a cell phone? a carrot?)

The compilation was without errors, my card is recognized (ASUS WL-107G), I configured my interface with YAST2>Network Devices, and I was trying to connect through my SAGEM3344 ADSL 2+ Residential Gateway. I am connected with SAGEM but I cant get through to the web
OK... this means the wireless system is working.
Now you have to convince the gateway to let you through.
Normally you would just set up your wireless interface to get it's IP via DHCP and the sagem would do the rest. Make sure sagem is capable of NAT, and turn your firewall off. (I am not familiar with this particular device, but I am guessing it is a combined WAP, NAT-Router and ADSL Modem... or, possibly you have a WAP plugged into a switch/router/modem combo?)
Probably the thing to try first is to connect to it via one of the ethernet ports. See if you got web thataway.
Hi Simon Bridge,
Yes, i am connected via eth0 (cable)no problems at all. Both of my comps are connected to SAGEM and that is all right. But, I am mad because I bought the PCMCIA wireless card and also the PCMCIA AP card for SAGEM and I WANT them to work properly. They are working under wins, but I use wins only for ACAD and some programs I have and need and they are not working under SuSE.
Well and by the way, how is the winter down there (here we have 35deg).
Cheers.
Your wireless card is working under SUSE... that is, you can connect to the sagem via wireless (according to your post #3)

. As stated, the issue is getting the sagem to allow SUSE at the web.
If you want to test this, try establishing an ad-hoc connection with another wifi-capable computer.
The next thing to try, though, is: got a wireless link and reboot the sagem. (The wireless link should vanish then re-aquire.) Then see if you got net access.
You should be able to access the sagem's administration functions via http (use firefox). Check the sagem's builtin firewall... and other "features". Your problem is likely in there somewhere. Like if it is using bridging mode (or some MS-specific protocol) for eg.
Remember: if you can ping the sagem over wireless from SUSE.... then the wireless is setup fine. I'm trying to think of anything that could be interfering from the linux end... but if you have disabled SELinux and your firewall, (and you got www access over ethernet) then that's about it.
You will also want to check with your sagem documentation and your ISP technical support.
Thank you Simon Bridge for the suggestions you gave me. I am able to access the sagem's administration functions via http and I have been trying to change some (which I am allowed to)with no result. I am now on SuSE 10.3A5. The problem remains. I am trying to "persuade" my IP to see the SAGEM settings and change them if possible. But first, I have to dl some packages, which i need to see and manage the network settings, as they are not a part of the SuSE 10.3A5 .
But the problem ( if any) is that when rebooting, I have to activate the wireless card again in YAST>Network devices.
The other problem is that after rebooting, I must enter the password again in kmail, MSN Messenger and all other programs which need the password. Why and how to repair??
I understand that SUSE has an autostart GUI for anything you want to start on login. To activate something on boot, figure out the CLI command and add it to /etc/rc.local.
Similarly, there is usually a configuration option someplace which stores passwords for dialogs. I'm not familiar with SUSE's GUI so I cannot guide you exactly (beyond stating what to look for.)
