Cannot type in text via Firefox?

Help!

I cannot type in text when replying to a message on this board for example, or when searching in Google or others.
I need to open a text editor, type in my text and then paste it in.

When I start typing in any window of any website I get stuck after the first two strokes. In Google I get Chinese or Japanese characters automatically filled in.

What is going on? I use SLED 10 and Firefox.

Set your language, and make sure java is installed.

I seem to have this problem only in Firefox AND Evolution, Konqueror is not affected. I reinstalled Firefox, to no avail. Seems to have happened after an automatic update.

Java is enabled.

Problem is solved: SCIM was active (Simplified Chinese input method).
