building on suse 9 using some libraries built on RH?

Hi,

I want to port an application to SuSE Linux 9. (SLES 9). I will be using some externals built on RH Linux, which had a gcc version 3.2.3. My gcc version on Suse is 3.3.3. Can I use the libraries built with gcc version 3.2.3 and build my application on SuSE with gcc version 3.3.3?

Probably. The potential problem is not the differing gcc versions but differing glibc versions. If the version of glibc on the Red Hat system is different that the version of glibc on SuSE then you may or may not have problems with the library binaries working correctly on the SuSE system.
