blue screen on xine, but I get audio.

I reinstalled suse 9.1 pro on my laptop and then I installed the packages to enable dvd support for xine.
curl-7.10.3-1i386.rpm
curl-devel-7.10.3-1i386.rpm
libdvdcss-1.2.8-2.network.i386.rpm
libdvdcss-devel-1.2.8-2.network.i386.rpm
libxine1-1_cvs-041024.i686.rpm
w32codec-0.52-1.i386.rpm
xine-ui-0.99.2cvs-041024.i586.rpm

I downloaded them from http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/
now all I get is audio when I play a dvd in xine. I didn't originally install kaffeine, so I installed that to see if it was some sort of weird dependency. xine still doesn't work but kaffeine works like a charm. I prefer xine, and I had it working before I reinstalled suse.
before when I got it working xine worked but kaffeine didn't; that would fine but I really want xine to work. let me know if you need anymore info.
