Anyone have a ftp site for AMD64 to add to Yast

I remember seeing it durring the last few days but can't find it again.

It's not letting me add it through the 'change source of installation' option in Yast. It just hangs, though I may very well be doing it wrong. Is there a source list simular to apt that I can add it to?

I'm familiar with apt from my use of debian clones. I had considered using it with Suse but from what I understand it has issues and doesn't run the Suse config like Yast does.

yast selections you want "All Of KDE" from your CD/DVD before you start

yast change source of install
add
ftp button
ftp.suse.com goes in server name
pub/suse/rest-of-url goes in directery on server
check anonymous
click on new entry; move it to top of list
finish

yast add/remove S/W
packages
page down to all
on right everything in blue select update

Looks as though I was doing it correctly but still I get an error that says "InstSrc:E_no_instsrc_on_media).

I have no idea what that means.

Looks like it's looking for a disk/cd, do you have disk/cd checked?

None of them is for YOU. The Yast Online Update (YOU) has it's own list of servers. You shouldn't need to change these.

This list is for adding installation sources to the Yast module 'Install and Remove Software'. What may has caused a little confusion is, that adding sources enables you to install 'updates' of KDE and Gnome. But it has nothing to do with the security updates and bugfixes you get via YOU.

So what you do is:

Open Yast -> System -> Change Source of Installation
click 'Add' -> FTP (or HTTP in case of the packman source)
specify the server and the directory
Note: no slashes in the server entry, no leading slash in the directory entry
e.g. (don't use the main server):

Server: ftp.suse.com
Directory: pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.1/yast-source/

To update e.g. KDE, add (only) the KDE source like above, open the 'Install...' module, select the filter 'Installation Summary', check the 'Keep' and click all entries that appear blue until the greenish 'update' sign appears, then 'Accept'.

From Packman you can receive a lot of recent multimedia packages, codecs etc.

recommend you delete the entry you have now & do a reentry as above, ought to work,
