10.2 can't modify files on windows share through SMB

Installed Opensuse 10.2 on a Celeron 900 system - runs well. I browse the network to find a windows 2000 computer with a shared folder that is passworded. I enter the correct username and password and it lets me in, I can browse the folder, I can create new documents on that folder, but when I open up a document like a .doc into OpenOffice I get an error message that SMB is not fully supported and it is opening a local copy. I then can't save that file back in the shared folder, only a local copy. What is really weird is that I can then shut down openoffice, and copy that file across using the file manager.

Please help! I can do this fine with (I'll get shot for this) 'lesser' distribuitions such as linspire, but not the with mighty 'opensuse'. Please help.

In 10.2 SMB is depreciated. Use CIFS (exactly same syntax as your older SMB stuff).

Cheers

Sorry, I'm a little new to this.

Does that mean in konqueror or Open Office open file dialogue typing cifs:\\{name of computer\{name of folder}?

I have tried that and it said CIFS is not supported even though I have gone into YAST add software and added CIFS there.

Should I be doing something else?
