Still having trouble with save file -

Hey, I have never been able to make a save file and load from it. Whenever I make a save file, the next load fails. I get a bunch of "PANIC" errors and it hangs. I can list them if needed.

Background info that may be relevant:
My 1337 32 bit was an early batch - actually marked as "Studio 4" white USB thumb-drive. You actually replaced my original Studio 4 32 bit when it failed to load. I also had the same exact issue with the save file on that Studio 4 stick that eventually failed, replaced with this 1337 (on a white stick labeled "Studio 4" - you might remember..)

So, since receiving this version, I've never been able to create a save file and load it. Even with just doing minimal changes (time zone and SNS network tool as default.. ) -- It has not failed like my last one did, but I still have to load with "puppy pfix=ram" so I can start without trying to load the save file which fails...

I've looked at some of the forums, tried doing the service pack 1 - Not exactly sure I did it correctly - I did see the new menu items after I downloaded and ran the install file... but when I shut down - the save file failed again and on load puppy pfix=ram none of the new menu items are there.

I found a thread that said to replace the cfg file.... I just want to get pointed in the right direction without trying more stuff and bricking my beloved 1337 !!

I noticed that when I view the properties of mounted SDB4, it shows 1015 of 1023mb used... with no save file in the studio folder... when I try to make my save file, it says there is only 8mb of storage available... OBVIOUS RED FLAG... but hold on I'm not that much of a newbie.. I basically sorted SDB4 by size and added up the file's that are on the SDB4 - and it shows roughly 710mb (making sure I have "hidden files" showing too) -- so why is there only 8mb available? I can't figure that out. -- the biggest files - "Studio_1337.sfs"=376mb, "z_extras.sfs"=333mb, "initrd.gz"=3mb,"vmlinuz"=2mb and the rest of the files are less than 1mb each...

either way, I had the same issue before my old "Studio 4" 32bit white stick failed completely, and my current 32bit 1337 loaded on the old batch of "Studio 4" sticks is having the same problem (minus the complete failure, of course) Is there an issue with the old batch of usb sticks?

I'm willing to learn some Linux tricks if you want me to try some stuff, let me know.

I LOVE 1337 and have been letting all of my DIY musician friends know about it. I've been using it for Video Editing, Multi-track recording, midi recording and more - just think it's an amazing product and although I am able to use it currently, I have to start fresh every time and load all my equipment and set up things from scratch every time - just wish this save file issue would clear up, and I'd find this OS soooo much more convenient! I'm planning to do some blogs about using this product but I want to get it working and be able to do a complete write-up of it. Also, planning to do an album exclusively with 1337!

THanks,
Chris

Sounds like the usb stick itself is misbehaving. We'll send you one of the newer ones right away! Please send an email with your mailing address.

Also, please make sure there are no save files on the computer you're using it on. It's easy to overlook.

I should also mention, Chris, that it's easy to install Studio 13.37 to your computer. Lots of people do that, but of course it's completely optional.
