Basic audio recording - WINE error message?
Hi, I am using Studio 1337 on an Acer netbook and wanting to record my voice through the inbuilt microphone. When I start Audacity I get a message popping up which has a picture of a wine glass and says:
"The Wine configuration in /root/.wine is being updated, please wait..."
This is followed by a message which says:
"Wine could not find a Gecko package which is needed for applications embedding HTML to work correctly. Wine can automatically download and install it for you. Note: it's recommended to use distro packages instead. See http://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko for details"
It offers me the choice of "Cancel" or "Install".
If I cancel the message (or just ignore it and leave it in the background) I can use Audacity happily, but does this message mean some feature won't work?
No, that won't affect Audacity. The WINE Gecko browser is just for apps that browse the Internet, and none of your music apps will do that.
Just hit 'cancel'. :)
