Ardour3 midi instruments

Hello

I can't seem to find any info on how to add midi instrumetns as plugins on a midi track.

Thanks

Does this help at all?

Thanks but I'm still at a loss.
What want to be able to do is to to add a midi instrument as a plugin in a midi track just like you can add an audio processor in an audio track.
All the plugins available in my midi tracks concern only audio processing.

Here is link to the Ardour 3 user's guide:

MIDI stuff starts around page 31.

I've started to sort of understand the problem.

There is a ubuntu package called "ubuntustudio-audio-plugins_0.70_i386.deb" which contains midi instrument plugins. When installed in 13.37 the instruments show up as plugins but unfortunately ardour3 crashes when they are installed.

Segmentation fault
lilv_lib_open(): error: Failed to open library /usr/lib/lv2/calf.lv2/calf.so (/lib/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.15' not found (required by /usr/lib/lv2/calf.lv2/calf.so))

I guess that these where compiled using GLIBC_2.15 which is iincompatible with 13.37.

Would it be possible to get plugins in a pet package. I'd dearly like not to have to compile these - I find the more I do computing, the less I do music...

Why are you installing Ubuntu debs on a Slack-based distro?

You can remove it by going into the package manager and clicking uninstall package, on the top right.

Slackware equivalents to Ubuntu packages are available online. Studio 13.37 is also compatible with SlackBuilds.org.

Studio 13.37 already comes with calf and lv2 plugins.

I'd recommend doing a factory reset and starting over.

Thanks

I tried installing a deb due to impatience, clutching at straws, and being ill educated in the differences between slackware and ubuntu. I'd never used slackware before 13.37.
It is now removed.
The calf and lv2 slackware packages at SlackBuilds.org install but don't give me midi instruments as plugins in ardour3.
A factory reset doesn't provide instruments.
Studio 13.37 already comes with calf and lv2 plugins but they are audio processors and not midi instruments.
To reiterate; normally in ardour3 you should be able to right click in the empty space in a midi track mixer view and add an instrument as a plugin.
There is a PET out there that when installed gives at least an "instrument" category within the plugins and a "calf monosynth" that works. It's a start.

13.37 also comes with invada plugins.

What is the proper name of the thing you need? Not just "ubuntu audio plugins", but specifically.

Forget about "ubuntu audio plugins", I understand this was an error. I'm sorry!
I seem to have a hard time explaining myself so if you watch this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5C65LvZ7ws
and jump to 2:14 it might become clear.
Here he is adding linuxsampler as a midi instrument within ardour3. In the video you can see that there are a number of other instruments he might have added when he created the midi track but he chose linuxsampler.

The proper name of the thing I need? I need to add midi instruments to midi tracks in ardour3 either via plugins or immediately when creating the midi track.
For example, as in the video, add linuxsampler upon creation of the midi track.

You should already have Calf FilterClavier, Calf Monosynth, Calf Organ, and Calf Rotary Speaker under Instruments.

Here's a freshly compiled LinuxSampler pet (with dependencies).
