Xtreme Sound 5.1 Sound Card

Hello,
I would like to get my Xtreme Sound 5.1 sound card working on Solaris Express. It doesn't work and I can't seem to get it configured correctly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What says the Sun Device Detection Tool ? It's on the installation DVD.

I mean there is a tool to help you figuring out what is supported and what is not on the installation DVD.

Just run /media/SOL_11_X86/sddtool/runsddtool.sh

Code:
# /media/SOL_11_X86/sddtool/runsddtool.sh
/media/SOL_11_X86/sddtool/runsddtool.sh: not found
#
The DVD is in the drive too.

What Solaris Express release/build are you using ?

What returns:

Code:
df -k /media/*
?

It appears that I am using an old version. I need to get a newer version. I may switch to Solaris 10 5/08 when I buy some blank DVDs. Right now I am on Solaris Express Community Edition b57, which I searched, and is over a year old. I need to upgrade my Express edition, or get Solaris 10 5/08.

Code:
# df -k /media/*
Filesystem kbytes used avail capacity Mounted on
/dev/dsk/c2t0d0s2 3802296 3802296 0 100% /media/SOL_11_X86

You can run the sdd directly from a browser:
Open this URL: http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/hcts/device_detect.jsp
Click on "Start Sun Device Detection Tool 2.1"
Click "I agree" (if you agree ) and Continue
Click on "sddtool_21.jnlp"

I downloaded it, tried to open it, and it didn't do anything. Am I supposed to run this somehow in Terminal or another way other than just double-clicking it?

Oh never mind, I double-clicked it, clicked Display, it started Java and the program ran. It is saying there is no Solaris driver for my sound card. I can tell it's my sound card because the vendor name is C-Media Electronics Inc. So, no driver. I used the Developer 1/08 operating system choice when it detected. Is there any driver that will work with this sound card?

Perhaps a commercial driver. Check with 4Front if it is supported. http://www.opensound.com/index.html

When some driver exists, like a second or third party driver, the Detection Tool will tell you.
As a last possibility you might try the Opensound driver.

Cheers, C
