USB speaker volume control?

Surprisingly, not only do the Apple (Harmon-Kardon) Soundsticks work on Apple and PC, I found that they also work on my SPARC Solaris 10 computer! Only one minor problem though... I can't control the volume, they run full blast all the time! Anyone manage to get volume control to work with USB speakers before?

You can try the following:

% svccfg
svc:> select volume
svc:/site/volume> setprop mixer/play_volume = 30 <- adjust this number as you wish

bash-3.00$ svccfg
svc:> select volume
Pattern 'volume' doesn't match any instances or services

:(

Did you try "sdtaudiocontrol" (Solaris Audio Control) and/or gnome-volume-control (if running JDS or GNOME)?

It doesn't seem to change USB volume at all, only the internal speaker.
