I haven't use the CSWtomcat6 package, but I think the service name should be tomcat6.
Anyway the following commands should tell you if tomcat is running and listening on the default port (8080)

ps -ef|grep tomcat
netstat -an|grep 8080

If it isn't running, you can use

svcs -xv <servicename>
to see more details why it fails (replace servicename with the correct name of the tomcat6 service).

Tomcat6 error
thanks for your reply and only thing i did blindly is i have already installed apache with port number 8080,and tomcat also taken 8080 port number, once i stopped the apache server and i started tomcat6 ,its working and now i have two services running on same port ,can you tell me how can i change port number for any of these two services and which one is better to change

I guess that you have to change apache port back to the default for webserver port 80. To do this edit httpd.conf, find the "Listen" directive and edit it accordingly.
If you want to change the tomcat default port read this.
