Tape Forwarding in Solaris

Hello y'all,

I am running Solaris 8 on SPARC. I access the machine from RHEL 3 using rlogin. I want to know how I can forward a tape to start writing from the last backup.

The command "mt -f /dev/rmt/1 forward" does not work on the Solaris machine. The tape drive is IBM 3590 mounted on /dev/rmt/1.

Thank you

I believe it's

mt -f /dev/rmt/1 fsf 1

I believe non rewind devices (e.g.: /dev/rmt/1n) should be used.
