SUNWsymon on Solaris 9

Does anyone know how to clean shutdown this service? I looked under /etc/rc2.d and /etc/init.d and there is no SUNWsymon in there. Maybe I am missing something.

Hi there:

Since I don't know what version of symon you are running, have you looked in /opt/SUNWsymon? There should be a sbin directory there with a series of commands. For example, Enterprise symon 2x comes from a package called SUNWesse. Try pkginfo -c symon to verify the name of the package first and take it from there.
I think I remember in older versions having a command called es-stop in that directory.

Thanks. You are spot on about the location of the file - it's /opt/SUNWsymon/sbin/es-stop. I ran it with ./es-stop S where S is "S : stops Sun Management Center Server and all the server subcomponents." but a "ps -ef | grep smcorau" still shows the following processes running.

Quote:

smcorau 4820 1 0 17:32:22 ? 0:00 ora_lgwr_SunMC
smcorau 4822 1 0 17:32:22 ? 0:01 ora_ckpt_SunMC
smcorau 4816 1 0 17:32:22 ? 0:00 ora_pmon_SunMC
smcorau 4830 1 0 17:32:23 ? 0:03 ora_d000_SunMC
smcorau 4826 1 0 17:32:23 ? 0:00 ora_reco_SunMC
smcorau 4828 1 0 17:32:23 ? 0:07 ora_s000_SunMC
smcorau 4824 1 0 17:32:23 ? 0:00 ora_smon_SunMC
smcorau 3644 1 0 17:32:16 ? 0:00 /opt/SUNWsymon/oracle/product/8.1.7/bin/tnslsnr smcdblistener -inherit
smcorau 4818 1 0 13:32:22 ? 0:00 ora_dbw0_SunMC
The box is Solaris 9.

Thanks for any further help.
