Sun V440 Server Solaris 9 + ALOM

Hi,

I am not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, apologies if I am asking in the wrong place.

I am trying to use ALOM on a Sun V440 running Solaris 9. I believe from Sun documentation that ALOM should be preinstalled on the server, but we cannot seem to use an commands (eg setupsc) or find any other traces of ALOM being installed. I have downloaded the installation files from the Sun site, but I am not sure how to install. Does anybody have any experience with this that can possible help with our installation of this.

Thanks a billion. Apologies once again if this is the wrong forum to be asking this.

On what port do you connect to ALOM ?

I am not sure what port we will be using, but our remote access is likely to be using a telnet client. So I guess port 23, does that even make sense?

In its terminology, a port is either a serial one (NET MGT), or the ethernet (NET MGT).

The ethernet one must be configured before being usable.

To see if ALOM support is present on your machine, try
Code:
/usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/scadm help

Thanks so much for pointing me to that document, I'm sure it will be more and more useful as I get deeper into this.

I guess we didn't know how to look for it, because having run that command I see the support is present on the Server. I assume that if the support is present, then ALOM is installed and I don't need to install it then? Then from there I can just follow the normal guides on how to use it.
