Sun V240 Raid Question

Hi, I'm new to this site and would like to know the following questions. I'm in the process of repair my raid, but how would I perform. Please advise.

1. How can we create RAID in Sun Sparc v240?

2. What utility can help people create RAID in Sun Sparc v240?

3. Do we need any special software to create the RAID?

4. How can we repair RAID volume?

Thanks Alot!

The V240 does not have a hardware RAID. Please state what operating system you are using.

OK, and are you using UFS or ZFS?

You can use a metadevice to do a limited RAID on this system. See the man pages for metainit(1M) and metadb(1M). There's a useful guide here. I would suggest you migrate to ZFS, however. It's more feature-rich than UFS and will let you configure your storage pools in more diverse ways. There's a best practices document here that you may find useful.

Boot to a single user shell from Failsafe mode or from CD/DVD, and run "fsck -y".. then cross your fingers!!
