Sun Ultra 5 Dead?

Hello,
I have acquired 2 Sun Ultra 5 workstations. One of them seems to work fine, but the other, I have no idea if it works correctly or not. I am waiting for my keyboard to come through the mail, so I can not test these completely yet. Will these do anything without a keyboard or mouse? One of them brings up a screen saying no keyboard and stuff, so I am guessing that one works, the other doesn't do anything. Any thoughts? Thanks.

It may still work but have its console directed to the serial line.

I can't, I don't have serial cable thing. If I did, why would I? My keyboard should come soon. And what is the difference anyway?

If the console goes to an unplugged cable you have no chance to see its output even with a keyboard and a monitor plugged in.
Console output is an eeprom (BIOS equivalent) setting.

What should these Ultra 5s do without a keyboard and mouse, if they work. Shouldn't at least something come up, other than the screen saying no keyboard or input device?

You wrote the second one wasn't telling "no keyboard or input device", is it correct ?

What should they do ? Well, a Unix server doesn't need/make use of a keyboard and a mouse. A network connection is all they require.

Yes it is correct when it says no keyboard or input device. I haven't received my keyboard and mouse yet. I have been reading up on learning Solaris (solaris 9), which I may install on my Ultra 5, or Solaris 10. Will a graphical interface work on solaris 9 with the ultra 5? Does this have to have a network connection on it to work?? I was just going to use it more like a desktop computer.
