Sun Blade 1000 Fans
Hello Guys, I am back to seek some wisdom. I just picked up a Sun Blade 1000 on ebay for $490 bucks shipped with 2 750 sparc 3's and 4GB of ram. I got the unit home and turned it on and it is screaming loud at the open boot. However when I boot into Solaris 10 off the HDD everything goes silent and normal again. I read it has something to do with the kernel monitoring the temps. Is there anyway we can do the same at the OBP, without sticking 2 pencils into the fans?
Thanks.

Well, my Ultra 20 M2's fans scream during powerup too. During system operation, though, the fans seem to work correctly and the majority of time they work at very low speed (even if they are a bit noisier than what you'd expect).

Same is happening here with my Ultra 80.
I 've learned to live with it.
Congrats with such a nice piece of hardware, keysorsoze.

Thanks for the reply guys, I was just wondering if I missed something at the open boot prompt that would probably allow us to adjust the fan speeds.
Thanks for the help.
