Solaris Installation Problem

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi,

I have a IBM x3650 type 7979 Server

During Installation, When I get option for Selecting Language, Once I select language, System reboots.
I had tried for all the different language selection and still the same result.
I had installed Linux on that to verify is it a Hardware Problem, and Linux got installed fine.

Any suggestion

I suggest the amount of time it will take you how to figure out how to install Solaris will take way longer than you could just install a Linux distribution of your choice and run Solaris in a virtual machine using Virtualbox. Just do that and save yourself frustration.

Also, it would help telling what Solaris release you are trying to install.

I run Solaris 10 in a vm on Virtualbox. Unless you are a developer and can write and understand drivers and all that ( because I sure don't) just put it in a vm.

Hey Everyone...

I am facing some problem after installing solaris 10. When i start the machine it first goes to grub and then loads solaris 10 and Once this is done

This is the information i see on the screen

Warning - The following files in / differ form the boot archive: /etc/path_to_inst
cannot find: /etc/device/mid_ib_cache: no file or directory

To continue booting at your own risk clear the service

#svcadm clear system/boot-archive

Mar 29 svc.startd[7]: svc:/system/boot-archive:default: Method "/lib/svc/method/boot-archive" failed with exit status 95

svc.startd[7]: system/boot-archive:default failed fatally: transitioned to maintenance (see 'svcs -xv' for details)

also i have run this command
$svcadm clear system/boot-archive
but unfortunately the system comes back to the same command prompt

Could anyone please assist me to solve this problem
Thanks & Regards

You might want to ask this on a OpenSolaris mailing list. Look at http://opensolar.org/ to find a propper place to ask.

To syedraoof: Welcome to LQ. When you have a new question unrelated to an existing thread, please start a new one instead of using previous ones. Also, please don't post the same question more than once. This is against LQ rules.

What you experience is a know bug which is reported to be fixed in recent Solaris 10 releases (update 4 and newers).
