Sendmail ignores aliases with sendmail daemon stopped
This might sounds like a dumb question but I am not sure what to do from here.
I need to relay emails from local machine to a mail relay server with sendmail daemon stopped (for few reasons) on local machine. The problem is sendmail ignores aliases db with sendmail daemon stopped.
What confuses me is that aliases are enabled in config files.
# This is the prototype file for a set-group-ID sm-msp sendmail that
# acts as a initial mail submission program.
VERSIONID(`$Id: submit.mc,v 188.8.131.52 2002/12/29 03:54:34 ca Exp $')
define(`__OSTYPE__',`')dnl dirty hack to keep proto.m4 from complaining
define(`_USE_DECNET_SYNTAX_', `1')dnl support DECnet
dnl If you use IPv6 only, change [127.0.0.1] to [IPv6:::1]
I tried using define(`ALIAS_FILE', `/etc/mail/aliases')dnl after FEATURE(`msp', `[xx.xx.xx.xx]')dnl[/I] as well.
# location of alias file
- run newaliases command
/usr/lib/sendmail -C submit.cf -bv test -> does not deliver to email@example.com but to test@localmachinedomain
/usr/lib/sendmail -C sendmail.cf -bv test -> delivers to firstname.lastname@example.org
What am I missing? :confused:
I think I found the answer at sendmail.org:
" Some things are not intended to work with the MSP. These include features that influence the delivery process (e.g., mailertable, aliases), or those that are only important for a SMTP server (e.g., virtusertable, DaemonPortOptions, multiple queues). "
Thanks to everyone who read this.
