Rancid


im trying to install rancid in a solaris box, but it failed on the 1st step..

appreciate your help..

# ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/rancid/
./configure: cannot execute

Post the output of these commands:

head -1 configure | od -c

$ ls -l configure
-rw-r--r-- 1 nsa casusers 223361 Jun 22 15:17 configure
$ file configure
configure: executable shell script
$ head -l configure | od -c
od: not found
$ head: illegal option -- l

"od not found" ?? What OS are you running ?

In any case, "configure" should be executable. Seems you have a bogus archive. Fix with:

chmod +x configure
"head -1" option was an upper case one, not ell.

checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... ./install-sh -c -d
checking for gawk... no
checking for mawk... no
checking for nawk... nawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... no
checking for gmake... no
checking for make... no
configure: error: can't locate a make.

Please tell the release of Solaris you are running, what unbundled tools you have installed and from where.
