Problem accessing dirs with VirtualBox and guest additions

Hi.

I wanted to experiment with VirtualBox so I downloaded VirtualBox-opensolaris-amd64-1.5.51-r28040-beta1.gz from Sun website. The first "problem" I had was that after installing a Windows instance, I selected Istall guest additions from the Device menu and it complained that the file wasn't on the server. Checking with a browser, I indeed found that the 1.5.51 version of the software is not there, so I manually downloaded http://www.virtualbox.org/download/1...ions_1.5.6.iso and it installed without problems.

Now, when I try to "net use" a folder I share in the VM configuration, the contents are incorrectly shown (e.g., many dirs appear as empty files) and with a big ZFS dir the VM crashes. Did anybody had such problem? May it be a version mismatch and if so where are the guest additions v. 1.5.51?

Thanks,
Enrico.

I have experienced the same problem. I suppose this feature isn't properly implemented yet with Solaris as a host.

To transfer files, I have installed them in a web server on the host and accessed them from a browser in Windows. Not ideal but that works.

Thanks jlliagre, for your solution too.

So far I like VirtualBox and this is the only problem I had, though pretty annoying.

Bye,
Enrico.

The remaining issues are the sound and USB don't work yet.

I didn't try sound because I don't need it but I read that it should work if you install OSS. Isn't that properly implemented?

It seems it isn't:

Thanks for the information, so I spare some time trying! ;)

Enrico
