I have recently tried to install OpenSolaris 2008.05. I have tried 3 different CDs to try to install it. Then I got the free CD from OpenSolaris 's website. I tried that, and still had this problem when loading the live cd:

Then, after a while, a background comes up with a cursor, then about 35 minutes later, a small box comes up in the bottom right corner. I waited another 40 minutes after that, and nothing happened. I don't think that a live CD will take this long to load. But I can be wrong of course. Is it that error that is messing it up? How do I fix this?

I seems your DVD reader has trouble reading the media. You may want to try recording at a lower speed or switching the drive with another one if possible.

Thanks, I think I need a new CD/DVD drive. This has been having some trouble. Like ejecting for no reasons, not reading discs, etc. Thanks.

Oooo I got this too! Mine's a Sony NEC Optiarc DVD recordable drive. It's a pretty new drive, too, and hasn't had problems reading things in the past. I wonder if it might be something to do with OpenSolaris? ...

(Open-)Solaris seems to have some quite stringent hardware requirements. How much memory do you guys have ???.
