Nvidia nforce 4 onboard nic not recognized by Solaris 11/06

I am trying to install Solaris 10 11/06 release on an Epox mb with Nvidia nic. Release 06/06 recognizes the nic OK. Sun no longer allows upgrade for the free version (Solaris 10 developers kit). I have tried the various drivers I have been able to find. I am a Windows user looking for something better. Other than help with the nic, can you suggest a good Unix book that explains command line to a newbie. I need guided hands on help.

What's wrong with just sticking with Solaris 06/06?

Nvidia nforce 4 nic not recognized by Solaris 11/06

I don't know if ther is anything wrong with sticking with 06/06 except that 11/06 is an update. Sun sent me a package of the Solaris 10, 11/06 with a DVD of developers tools. I haven't tried installing the developer dvd against 06/06 but I assume it would work fine. Is there a way to extract the nic driver from the 06/06 distro to use with the 11/06?

Can you clarify what is the driver you use with 06/06 that is apparently no more in 11/06 ?

It is the nge driver. I'll try to find out who or where it was written. It came with the 06/06 distribution that I downloaded from Sun's download site.

The nge driver is documented to be still present in 11/06.

What tells:
Code:
pkgchk -v SUNWnge
?
