Ease of install varies from distro to distro. Distros like mandrake are much easier when compared to something like gentoo. With most distros GUI is installed automatically.

Concerning licenses i do not know that much. I have never looked into it.

one last question.

1. is the download FREE version of Solaris almost the same as the reatil one, or is it soooooooooooooooooooooo watered down that u cant get nothing done

im looking fordward for Solaris 10 for the auto healing feature

(1) Solaris isn't that difficult to install, if you relatively Unix-savvy and willing to read some documentation. If you can install, say Slackware, you'll have no trouble with Solaris. One caveat, do check the hardware compatability list, particularly if installing on x86 as opposed to SPARC.
(2) Unless you tell it not to, I believe it does.
(3) Don't know, but I don't think so.
(4 & 5) Yes. Sun is planning to turn Solaris into an open source product like Linux or the BSDs (but with their own license). Therefore, it will be freely available.
(6) The download version is no crippled. The Sol;aris 9 download however can opnly be legally installed on single processor machines. I think the open source version of Solaris 10 will install on up to 4 processor boxes (but someone correct me if I'm wrong).

1. how easy is it to install
easy if it is going to be the single O/S on the disk
more complicate if you want multi-boot.
As btmiller said, there are more H/W issues on x86/x64, but it's getting better than with previous releases.

2. does it install a GUI
yes, CDE and JDS (Gnome based). There are many others available on the companion CD.

3. does solaris 9 download lisence have a expiration date
No, but the product will have one day an end of life (no more versions) and an end of support date (no more patches).

4. will solaris 10 FINAL be for free download
If you mean by final, the one that will be launched this month, which won't be final, but the first of many,
yes, free license for end users, 1 to 4 CPUs, SPARC or x86 or x64.

5. will solaris 10 FINAL have a lisence expiration
No, same as 3.

It is exactly the same O/S, no limitations I'm aware.
There are differences depending on what H/W you are running the O/S though, for example the Self Healing features your are mentioning will be first made available on SPARC H/W, and will appear later on x86/x64 on Solaris Express releases.
