Monitor CPU, RAM, NIC. etc:

I just want to spread the word. Conky is a very neat looking app that allows you to monitor things on your computer. Similar to gkrellm but neater. Look at the screensshots. Start with "conky" down at usr/local/bin/conky.

"Tested on Nevada and OpenSolaris (need check for uptime function on OpenSolaris).

Tarball:

Use .conkyrc from tarball."

I tried it out a couple of months ago, but it was using too much cpu (~10% of 1 cpu), so I switched it off. gkrellm uses 1%.

Depends on conky config, what you want to display, and how often.

I generally used 1-2 second delay time between conky updates and it used about 0-1% maybe, on old athlon 1.6GHz.

gkrellm is very small while conky can be placed on whole desktop:

Also a great replacement for root-tail on desktop.

I wonder, is the Solaris port missing some features? For instance, I have problems showing all quad cores. Am I doing wrong, or is the port missing some features?

EDIT: This question is for Conky. Has someone succeeded with dual core on Solaris with this port?

On the gkrellm homepage there are a lot of screenshots of a few of the many themes available.

Update. I meant for Conky, not for gkrellm. Conky suits me better, as I have quad core and 4 GB RAM.

Hi

can we produce a report for the resources utilize in the morning session for instance ( 9 - 1 )in order to have a close look at an average hardware resource utilization during this time.
