logon at console for root only
Hi all,
I have uncommented this line CONSOLE=/dev/console in /etc/default/login file but when i use root to login to the server thru ssh, i found that I am still able to logon to the server. Do i need to restart any services in order for this to work ? Thanks |
best place to control who logs in where on the whole system is normally /etc/securetty, but is this is just a root / ssh issue, there is an option in your sshd config permitrootlogin i think which is pretty obvious i think :)

There is a "AllowRootLogin" or some such setting in the SSH config. Look in /usr/local/etc/sshd_config or /etc/ssh/sshd_config depending on which release of SSH you are using.
