You are not telling which version of Solaris you're talking about...

If it were Solaris 10, you could just disable the graphical login service. First, check which one you're using:
Code:
$ svcs -a | grep login
disabled       Mar_13   svc:/application/gdm2-login:default
disabled       Mar_13   svc:/network/login:eklogin
disabled       Mar_13   svc:/network/login:klogin
disabled       Mar_13   svc:/network/login:rlogin
online         Mar_13   svc:/system/console-login:default
online         Mar_13   svc:/application/graphical-login/cde-login:default
In this case I'm using svc:/application/graphical-login/cde-login:default. You can disable it using svcadm:
Code:
# svcadm disable svc:/application/graphical-login/cde-login:default
You could also use /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig to disable graphical login. Please refer to dtconfig manpage which can be viewed with:
Code:
$ man -M /usr/dt/man dtconfig
in case your MANPATH wouldn't contain the /usr/dt/man directory.
