Hi all,

I have Solaris 10 on CDE desktop, and I want to install a new font file which is Arial Terminal True Type, but how can I make StarOffice 7 use it?

Windows XP stores its font files in the WINDOWS directory and Excel did in fact recognized it in the fonts list, but how can do this for StarOffice on Solaris?

I just need the Fonts directory so I can paste it there and thats it.

But the question is, does Solaris recognize the .TTF file extenstion? Because this new font I have, was on for Windows. If not, than can someone direct on where can I download the Arial Terminal True Type font for UNIX?

Solaris (actually the X server) can recognize and use truetype fonts. Now depending on your X configuation there a few ways to add ttf fonts system-wide.
If you just want a ttf font to be available only in StarOffice, you can use
to add it.

You can follow this guide to add ttf fonts in Solaris. Just use a directory like /usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts/ttf instead of /home used in the guide
There is also a guide from Sun, but it's involving compiling freetype to get the utils needed to create fonts.dir and fonts.scale files.

It will be just for StarOffice only...

So, after typing the command above, what will happen after that?
Im not on my Solaris box now, but please explain.

Running spadmin will bring up a gui interface that will allow you to add/remove printers and fonts in Soffice.
