how to restart dns resolve or add route?

question again
Here is the question after i practice the route command

i get a info [ "The connection was refused when attempting to contact www.sun.com" ] from web browser after i use a command.
# route -f

I use ping command get following message.

#ping www.sun.com
ICMP host unreachable from gateway dex-solaris(10.1.104.9)
for icmp from dex-solaris(10.1.104.9) no answer from www.sun.com

but i can get any server's ip address use nslookup command
#nslookup www.sun.com

Server: 10.1.104.8
Address: 10.1.104.8#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: www.sun.com
Address: 209.249.116.195

first time use route -f command message is
default 10.1.104.8 done

so i show the route table using #netstat -r
Routing Table: IPv4
Destination Gateway Flags Ref Use Interface
-------------------- -------------------- ----- ----- ------ ---------
10.1.104.0 dex-solaris U 1 2 rtls0
BASE-ADDRESS.MCAST.NET dex-solaris U 1 0 rtls0
localhost localhost UH 4 83 lo0

the routing table before using route -f
# netstat -r
Routing Table: IPv4
Destination Gateway Flags Ref Use Interface
-------------------- -------------------- ----- ----- ------ ---------
10.1.104.0 dex-solaris U 1 2 rtls0
BASE-ADDRESS.MCAST.NET dex-solaris U 1 0 rtls0
default 10.1.104.8 UG 1 8
localhost localhost UH 4 83 lo0

I guess route -f just flush the gateway but how could i make my box's wan network again.

Thanks

This is documented in the route manual page.

There's a cache for name services (nscd), I guess it still had the resolution available when you asked.
