How to get patches without Sun Service Plan?

Hi!

I have to install a backup client tool from IBM (TSM Backup) and I need a special patch for this: 120034-01 mntfs. This patch is available at http://sunsolve.sun.com. But you may download it only if you have contracted a Sun Service Plan, which I did not. This patch can't be found at sunfreeware.com or at http://www.blastwave.org/.

I'm very surprised to read that you have to pay for some patches. Or is there any other way to get such patches?

Thanks.

Only security patches are made available for free to everyone.

Yes, wait for them to be integrated in the next Solaris minor release.

Does it mean that until then I can't install this client because it needs this patch? It's a client for backup, so I'd like to be sure that it works 100% stable.

If you need to be sure it works, as the software vendor tells this patch is required, perhaps can you afford a US$120 per socket 1 year support contract ?

I'm quite sure this cost is negligible compared to this software and the related hardware.

Well, I can't afford nothing because I'm not the boss. And my boss says: "no money!".
I'll try it without patch.

Dude, sorry to tell you this but you will have some serious problems if you can't install any patches in your serveres. Not just with this software but with other daemons as well. Tell your boss to dish out some money if this is for work. lol.
Don't mean to laugh at you, its weird that this seems to be work related and yet there is no $$$. Bosses are always the samee. mine 2.

I work at a public university: they really don't have money! But thanks for the advice, I'll try to convince him.
