You do not need to know in details what fsck is doing, just reply yes to any questions it asks.

If you are really unconfident on what fsck may do to you filesystem, you can dump the whole slice to another disk for later examination with dd, but you'll need some free space for that.

hi
there is a problem
when i press ctrl+d and login, total of my home directory is empty.
is there a way to reach them?

fsck prompt that specific file is inconsistent, and ask me to remove it.
is fsck attempt to erase data files??
thanks 4 your help.;) :)

If your home directory is on /export/home, this is normal as /export/home is not mounted.

By mounting /export/home, but you need to have it fixed before.

fsck is trying to recover what it can, unrecoverable files need to be removed.
