Exclamation How do i reset my password root of my system?


Hi,

I forgot my password to start my server again, how can i reset my password? I have a SPARC T3-1 using solaris 11 Sun.

This should be in a Solaris forum, then.

Do you still have your installation media? you should be able to reboot using the install media. Or is this some kind of openfirmware password preventing you from actually starting the server at all?

Boot some linux live cd, chroot to the system and change password
or mount /etc parition and edit shadow file

Not sure a Linux CD can handle Solaris 11 .....
As above, ask the Mods via the Report button to move this to the Solaris forum.

How to set the boot before the root

how do i set the boot for disk and not hd before access root user?

Assuming you have properly configure your ILOM for remote access, you can connect to it through the network and boot on a Solaris live media like an Installation DVD. Alternatively, you can connect to the serial management port.
