Well, "that shouldn't happen"... I've lost power to Solaris boxen several times and never had that issue. Since you're fairly new and this is an uncommon (and possibly difficult to solve problem), have you considered just re-installing the OS?
Are warning or error messages being displayed when it boots ?
Run "svcs -xv" and have a look at what is tells.
Hi There,
When i start the machine it first goes to grub and then loads solaris 10 06/06
Once this is done
This is the information i see on the screen
Warning elx10: link failure
Warning - The following files in / differ form the boot archive: /etc/path_to_inst
cannot find: /etc/device/mid_ib_cache: no file or directory
To continue booting at your own risk clear the service
#svcadm clear system/boot-archive
Mar 29 svc.startd[7]: svc:/system/boot-archive:default: Method "/lib/svc/method/boot-archive" failed with exit status 95
svc.startd[7]: system/boot-archive:default failed fatally: transitioned to maintenance (see 'svcs -xv' for details)
So I really have no idea where to go about, reinstalling OS is a very easy solution but i think i dont learn anything out of it so i want to learn the hard way
and it will resume booting to the graphic environment.
Yeah that was the first thing that i did before posting the question in LQ forum
$svcadm clear system/boot-archive
unfortunately the system comes back to the same prompt
But then I went to single user mode and just allowed the system to perform all the tasks that it wanted to do and now I am back using the Graphical Interface so the problem is solved
I am too suffering with this same problem When i start the machine it first goes to grub and then loads solaris 10 and Once this is done
This is the information i see on the screen

cannot find: /etc/device/mid_ib_cache: no file or directory
To continue booting at your own risk clear the service

also i have run this command $svcadm clear system/boot-archive
but unfortunately the system comes back to the same command prompt,
and yah i have gone to single user mode also, there i got message like
Do you wish to automatically update this boot archive? y or n? i have give yes.

no i am in command prompt #
Could you please assist me to solve this problem,i'l be thankfull to you
