file systems

i have installed and have an operational version of solaris 10 on an intel system, but am not familiar with its file systems. i need to know what file system i have used, and whether it is one that pools all the hdds in my pc.

what do you mean with "one that pools all the hdds" ?

Solaris native filesystem is ufs, if this what you asked for ...

yes, Solaris 10 comes with the ZFS file system, which is able to "pool" multiple hard disks together into one virtual file system. Every time you add a hard drive and format it with ZFS, it will simply add space to your existing file system and whatever partition you choose. Similar to LVM, but a little more advanced.

Unfortunately zfs is not yet there.

Pooling disks, a.k.a (software) raid can be done with Solaris Volume Manager: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/816...anpiehf?a=view
