No, it should work, as I've done this here at the office before. However, expect some real entertainment with file-locking, especially between local (on the Solaris box), SMB mounted (Windows), and NFS (other Unix/Linux systems), clients. If you're using it for data sharing, i.e., departmental shared drive, you'll probably be fine.
