Default Desktop Environment of OpenSolaris...

Hi Forum

What is the default DE of OpenSolaris...?

Is it KDE, or Gnome...?

Is there a ports system that allows me to fetch Kde for instance...?

Is the process of building some application similar to Linux ( ./conf make make install ), or is it managed otherwise via a package manager, like synaptic, or portage...?

Are Linux applications ( binary ) supported, or must my apps be recompiled from source...?

BRGDS

Alex

Gnome.
Have a look at http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/...op/communities for desktop environment communities.

Have a look at http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/KDE...is/OpenSolaris for KDE on OpenSolaris.
As explained in the previous link, building from source can be done using CBE.

Both work, better to use IPS packages.

Many are supported indirectly when running in a Linux branded zone.
