Applications Running.

Hello .

I want to know how to check out whether the Application running on Solaris will be able to run on Linux box.If that is not possible then can I run the application meant for Sun Solaris on Intel based machine running Sun operation systems?
I intend to run Cisco NMS/EMS Applications.
Bye
Ranjeet.

Linux can't run natively Solaris applications, but this is doable under a virtualization environment like VMware, Xen, Qemu or Parallels.

Solaris can obviously run Solaris applications, provided they are compiled to the target architecture, or a compatible one.

x86 32 bit applications will run on a 64 bit AMD64/EM64T kernel, SPARC applications will run on UltraSPARC (64 bit).

I have no idea what Cisco NMS/EMS is.
