Adding printer in trusted Solaris 10

I am just wondering why is everything so difficult to configure in Solaris. I am trying to add a printer on my Solaris 10 TX U4 (Sparc). Everytime I give the command,
Quote:
# lpadmin -v /tmp/SUNut/units/IEEE802.000/dev/printers/HPCN5842101T -p HP1000
I get Warning messages but the pritner gets added. When I run
'lpstat -t'
I can see,

Quote:
HP1000: Unknown printer
HP1000: Unknown printer
HP1000: Unknown printer
HP1000: Unknown printer
Failed to contact hp1000
I have no clue what my Solaris TX is trying to do?? When I printer manager (GUI tool) to add the printer, after entering the configuration information, I get a error popup box, which is blank!! Yeah that points out the error for me!!!

How can I find solution to this?

PS: I am try to add HP Businessjet 1000 using USB.

Quote:
# lp /etc/hosts
_default: failed to commit job (7-0): queue disabled
Somebody please help!!

Where did you find the bizarre parameter passed to the lpadmin command ?
What were the warnings you got ?
What contains the /tmp/SUNut/units/IEEE802.000/dev/printers/HPCN5842101T file ?

You may want to have a look at the Solaris documentation here:
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819...s-33230?a=view
