wireless -SIOCSIFFLAGS - No such file or directory


I have a laptop with a PCMICIA card (smc2835W) and it simply wont work, whatever I try the problem seems to be:SIOCSIFFLAGS - No such file or directory

iwconfig
eth0
NOT READY! ESSIDff/any Nickname.....
Mode:managed channel:6 accesspoint 00:00:00:00:00:00
Tx-Power=21 dBm sensitivity=0/200

...

lsmod:

I don't have a wireless card and I've no idea how to set it, but it seems some script you use is screwed because SIOCSIFFLAGS seems to be a variable or something but as shown, some script is trying to execute it.

Okay, I have EXACTLY the same problem. Did a search and found that SIOCSIFFLAGS usually has something to do with IRQ settings. I'm not exactly sure what though. I'm using Mandrake 10.1, so that is slightly different, but from what I can tell the problem is exactly the same.

EDIT: I'm using a Netgear WG511.
