i installed swaret on my pc system under slackware10 but unfortunately when i inter the command..
after connecting to internet and donig some commands......,it comes back to the main command line as root,and the software which was going to be uptade,dosent chang!!!!!
i did these change in swaret config:
VERSION=current
NIC=ppp0
shall i do any other thing and chang????!!!!

First, ensure that you want to upgrade to current.
10.0/patches enables you to keep your 10.0 with up-to-date software.
At first, current may be great, but when big changes such as gnome 2.8 will appear in current, it may allow you not to break the entire system.

2nd: Ensure you are using a mirror that is up-to-date.
For exemple, today, some gives you mozilla 1.7.2 (Plus galeon etc...) some does not !!!

Way to use:
swaret --update
==> look at /var/log/swaret for the log
==> look at /var/swaret for files download (PACKAGES.TXT) packages

Then, to keep your distro up-to-date:
swaret --upgrade
Then each new package is displayed, along with the version installed, and you can choose the packages you decide to update.
(swaret --upgrade -a upgrade automatically)

Trick: never to a swaret --install -p
Contrary to the documentation and FAQ, it fails to upgrade: it installs the package in patches, and then you've got 2 packages, the old one besides the new one.
And then, no other choice to to remove both, and reinstalled the new one ! (Which has been downloaded in /var/swaret/)

The location for repository (/var/swaret) plus the log can be changed in /etc/swaret.conf

in this time with ur help i run swaret and enjoy

You may also just want to comment out 'repositories' all together when upgrading to current. (Just make sure you have some good 'root' links ) (I have found that you will get strange packages sometime if you don't) And NEVER use automatic upgrade.. do it 'by hand' as shown in example above.

Also (hehe) try and use http sites as opposed to ftp. They work faster for swaret.
