Startup of X slowed by 2 small config files?
Before I started playing with conky and bash, which involved creating and editing:
Now, I get to look at the cute little guy for about 3-4 seconds.
Question: Is it possible that those two new config files could have slowed X's start up to such an extent? (ie:close to 1000%?)
It could depend on what is being configured within the config files. You can also look at '/var/log/Xorg.0.log' to see any potential issues.
I will also disable a couple of things and make a speed comparison test.
Edit: To that end, is is sufficient for me to say, change a .bashrc and/or a .conkyrc into .bashrc.bak and .conkyrc.bak respectively?
Didn't seem to help: I deactivated bother .*rc files and still the same:
I've gone from a startX process that was so quick I barely saw the splash flick by,
to a start up where I see the splash for about 3 seconds. Curious.
I'm not complaining of course, because the whole boot up and startx process is very solid and very fassssst! (uniquely so in my experience)
thanks for taking the time,
