slackware64 installer kernel panic on Acer c720

I have an official DVD set fresh out of the box. X86 installer boots fine from external usb DVD drive but 64 bit panics with huge.s. I can't imagine why as every installer from 14.0 upwards installed fine with this hardware.

Any other c720 users getting this?

Heavily suspect faulty DVD drive so not likely a slackware issue. I'll check this mark solved if this is the case.

Faulty DVD drive was the culprit.
