Slackware v11.0 on Toshiba Satellite A135-s2376
I am trying to compile a kernel and associated modules for the kernel 2.6.17.13 which come with Slackware as an extra and because my system needs it a Celeron M 520 which
is in a Toshiba Celeron M 520 single core A135-S2376 laptop which I bought last month and promptly removed VISTA. Information is scanty. SATA 130 GB SDA I also chose XFS as the filesystem. I thought I had to use the mbr (sda) and there is a notice of this about XFS. However, now to try out a new kernel I simply type "lilo" not "lilo -c -M /dev/sda mbr [-F]" it seems the superboot /sda1 is /dev/sda ???? - any comments on this? Are there different softlinks necessary for the /usr/include and /usr/src/linux than previously for 32 bit kernels. I notice there is a build directory in /lib/modules/2.6.17.13/build I am also having trouble with the ATI Xpress 200M integrated video "chip" and also with the touchpad working under X Windows [any system]. I have tried several configurations. As I can't compile a kernel, and can't load the appropriate modules, i.e., ps2 mouse, I can't get gsynaptics to work. |
Have you tried the huge26.s kernel(2.6.17.3) or test26.s(2.6.18.3)? If you use these kernel after installation you have to install the headers and modules. located on extra/ and testing/. And the source is recommend also to be installed.
