I am mandrake linux average user and Now I am trying out slackware from local new stand magzine .My slackware 10 came with 2 CD for installion and it always stuck at second CD when gnome scroll bar try to update it data base for search engine.My computer have history of over heating which I am trying to fix but because of my badget problem I couldn't solve yet .Maybe it is IDE cable or system Case which came with bad cooling system or even motherboad which I had to replace more than 10 capciter in last 2 years.Out of all those painful thing I had learn that my computer hang at overheating which happen frequently and ISO image download always corrupted no matter what I try and I couldn't never install Red Hat or Fedroa .So giving my hardware profile ,wil it be possible that my problem lie within hardware and not slackware ?

Try this for the overheating problem it worked for me in a similar situation:
Take the side panels off of the case and put a box fan on one side, making sure there's plenty of room on the other side for air to circulate. Noisy as all get out but very effective.

Cool! Glad I could help. One thing I forgot to add is be careful if there are kids or pets around. They could receive a nasty shock if they were to reach into the open case.
