I moved from Mandrake to Slack, and the only problem I've had so far is the fact that I don't have sound, Mandrake detected it right away, but I can't seem to get it working on Slack. Anyone know where I can find the drivers for this?
I have tried that, and unfortunately for me it doesn't solve the issue. A friend told me that Slack has problems with the Dell SB card, but that some people ave gotten it to work.
I have the same problem, I am using debian and my sblive 5.1 from dell is not supported (SB0203), at least is what I discover until now.
The fact that mandrake is able to get it working, makes me wonder :
Does mandrake use the propietary modules from OSS?
Or did they make some modifications to the kernel module?
I never use mandrake in my life so I do not know how do they do about this kind of things.
If mandrake does not use the modules from OSS in theory it would be just get the modifications from their kernel and put those modifications into our kernels (compile and everything), am I wrong?
